Renovation work is moving along nicely with The Park On Main® Hotel in Highlands, N.C. as we countdown to our anticipated opening in June.
The past week focused largely on installing the network of exterior walkways around the hotel. The walkways will be finished with a slate-style ceramic tile to match the stone theme of the hotel’s metal and concrete support columns. Each stone was custom cut to fit each column.
Foundation work in the garden terrace area progressed last week as the concrete walkways were installed along with the area’s centerpiece fountain. An intricate irrigation and drain system was also installed and covered with a special engineered topsoil to ensure and maintain the healthy growth of the trees, shrubs and flowers that will be featured in the space.
The entire structure was outfitted with new gutters to control the runoff of rain water. In addition, a retaining wall along the public sidewalk is now placed. The cap of the wall picks up on the stone theme.
Crews also spent the week installing lighting along all of the hotel’s balconies.
The hotel’s exclusive line of soaps, shampoos and lotions are starting to arrive. The toiletries, all in a Honey Mango scent, will be in each guest room as well as the hotel’s small retail store. Be sure to take a close look at the shape of the soaps. Yep, you guessed it! The soaps are in the likeness of Mr. Pickles, the hotel’s Scottish terrier mascot. As we draw closer to opening day, our managing partner, Columbus Hospitality Management, is beginning to book reservations by telephone at (800) 221-5078 ahead of our full website and online reservation system going live in a couple of weeks.
And we have begun to hire top quality personnel to fill a variety of hotel staff positions from guest services to housekeeping. Employment ads are circulating around the Highlands, N.C. region. Career opportunities can also be found by searching current openings in North Carolina.
